Temperate Climates
There are two types of Temperate climates:
- Cool Temperate
- Warm Temperate
Cool Temperate
- Four seasons
- Warm Summers 14 - 20 degrees in Summer
- Mild Winters 3 - 7 degrees in Winter
- Rain throughout the year, mostly in Winter
- Weather is cloudy and changes often
- Vegetation, deciduous forest - oak, ash, elm
- Most of the Forests have been removed for farming, transport and settlement
- Average Rainfall 1000 - 200mm/year
- Squirrel, Pine Martin
- Example of Country: Ireland, Uk, New Zealand
Warm Temperate
- Also known as the Mediterranean climate
- Close enough to the Equator
- Summers are hot and dry 30 degrees and long hours of sunshine
- Winters are mild and moist 6 - 10 degrees
- Rainfall, 400 - 700mm/year
- Grapes, oranges, lemons
- plants - lavender, lilies, roses
- Example of Country: Italy, Spain, Portugal
