Communication

Scientists must communicate to share ideas. This allows scientists to check each other's work and to develop their ideas. Ideas can only develop into scientific theory if the ideas are tested and accepted by the other scientists.

Research

Sources of Evidence

the evidence that scientists gather to test their hypothesis comes from what they observe, from experiments that they carry out or data that they collect. This type of evidence is called a primary source of information.

- Primary source is information gathered from observation, experiments and data collected.

Scientists can also gather information from discussions with other scientists and at conferences. A lot of information is sourced from books, scientific papers and journals or on the internet.

Journals are scientific magazines where scientists can publish details of their ideas and the results of their investigations.

Readers must be careful because scientific information in the media can lack detail or show bias.
