Bangladesh clothing factory

In 2013 the Plaza factory in Bangladesh collapsed killing more than 1133 people and injuring many others. The factory had produced clothes for western retailers such as Primark and Bennetton. Workers there were poorly paid and poorly treated because in developing countries labour is cheap, so they did not have much choice. Many people lost their jobs, so their families were in poverty for a long time before the government did anything about it. There are many incidents like this in a lot of developing countries because laws governing the work environment are not as strict.
